Monday, August 3rd, we were joined by our newest cycle of students – 14A! They are currently in their third week of MTO (Mental Toughness Orientation) and all is going well.

1-2-3 Way Back! 14A does PT each morning during MTO.
During MTO, the students are introduced to the program and participate in various team building exercises, community service projects, and PT (physical training).

The new students work on a team building exercise - The Toxic River - where they need to work together to get their entire team across.

On Thursday, July 30, a group of YDB students and staff spent the day on Belle Isle helping out for Ken Cockrel’s Annual Senior Picnic.

Our volunteers set up tables and chairs, aided the guests in getting off the buses and finding seats, and passed out lunches.

It was a great day for all involved and an excellent way to meet our neighbors!
Recently, our current cycle had the opportunity to spend some time on Lake Huron at Camp Cavell. Check out the students’ reactions and some photos under our recent events page or click on the photo below!

Here’s an opportunity for young and talented singers, musicians, poets, comedians, and dancers to prove you are a future superstar. The Showdown in Motown is a Detroit talent showcase with prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100. Celebrity judges will rate the performances with audience participation and pick the winners.
The Showdown in Motown is a competitive talent show to benefit the YouthBuild Detroit program, which prepares disadvantaged young adults to pass the GED, develop leadership and employability skills, and receive on-the-job construction training while building homes for needy families.
